AI Solutions Engineer, Small Business Automation

Cognito Technology builds payment, AI and software systems for businesses and startups across Canada. Through our AI Check and AI consulting work, we help small businesses across the GTA put AI to work with tools they can use within days, not slide decks. We're growing the team that builds those tools alongside the owners who use them.

You'll be the engineer small-business owners talk to. You'll take leads from our AI Check, find the work that is costing them the most time, and build AI agents and automations that plug into the tools they already use. You'll own each project from the first call to the handover, and turn what works into templates the whole team can reuse.

1. 01Run discovery calls with business owners, many of them from our AI Check, and find the work that costs them the most time.
2. 02Scope Power Hours and implementation packages: what we'll build, what it connects to, and what done looks like.
3. 03Build AI agents and automations with LLM APIs, Python or TypeScript, and tools such as n8n, Make or Zapier.
4. 04Connect them to the tools clients already use: email, phone and SMS, CRMs, booking systems and accounting software.
5. 05Test with real data, add guardrails and human review where mistakes would be costly, and keep an eye on cost.
6. 06Write handover docs and train staff, so the tool keeps being used after we leave.
7. 07Turn repeated work into reusable templates and internal tooling.
8. 08Share what you learn from clients with the rest of the team, including what to offer next.

• ●You've built and shipped tools on top of LLMs that real users relied on, not only demos.
• ●Solid Python or TypeScript, and comfortable with APIs, webhooks and auth.
• ●Comfortable leading a client call on your own and explaining trade-offs in plain language.
• ●Good judgement about when AI is the wrong tool, and when a simple automation is enough.
• ●Clear written communication.
